Our Story

Our story began way back in 2011, when a Canadian girl met an Irishman at a music festival in Ireland.

After some fun years of traveling back and forth, we decided to move to Kristina’s home town of Edmonton to put down some roots. Then we had an idea. We wanted to create an authentic pub experience in Edmonton that was reminiscent of pubs back in Ireland. Family friendly pubs that served as a meeting place for the local community, where hospitality is king, the food is fresh and the atmosphere is lively. A place that not just serves the community but is part of it. We found that place in Manchester Square, a charming European-styled building complex, nestled by Edmonton’s vibrant 124th St. community.

And with that, along with some like-minded friends supporting them, the Ashford House Pub and Kitchen was born – named after the village in Co. Wicklow Ireland where John grew up. Our philosophy was simple: To cultivate a space where everyone is welcome. A place where you can enjoy a business lunch during the day, after-work drinks in the evening, then celebrate with family and friends on the weekend. With a strong focus on celebrating all of the amazing local food vendors, breweries and distilleries that Alberta has to offer.

So come drop in and visit, bring some old friends and be prepared to make some new ones. We can’t wait to welcome you to our house.
